I believe than people have no intrinsic human nature. People are neither totally good nor bad. I believe that there is not defined purpose to life, except possibly the purpose to make one's own purpose.

I believe that people have free will to realize and fullfil thier purposes. This being said, people do have (in a limited sense) free will--in the sense of Sartre's sardonic statement "condemned to freedom". (Ironically, free will is the only thing individuals are not free from.) One's free will is, of course, limited by physical, psychological, evolutionary, social, monetary, cultural, et al, factors. Given the circumstances of one's life, one can make certain choices to improve or worsen aspects of their lives.

I believe that people have a certain personal identity that continues over time; not in an aristitilian or teologically logical sense of the concept (A=A), but in a Buddhist sense of transitory aspects. Given that the only constant is change, a person's identity is x=A+B+C+D... Since people have some free will and some personal identity, they also have some responsibility for their actions.

I believe in the possibility of an absolute truth of the universe. However, since individuals are trapped in thier own subjectivity, it isn't known if an absolute truth can be reached. There is at least one universal truth. The statement, "There are no universal statements" is a universal statement.

I believe that science, mathmatics and logic are three of the best ways of examining the world. I also believe that they are also limited. I believe that due to a person's (and others') subjectivity some truths can only be reached through faith. Faith in a higher power (for example), faith in other people, faith in oneself.

I believe that my wife loves me and that she is my solemate. I believe that together, we have the capacity to raise our son to be a decent human being.

I believe in Santa Claus. I believe in the Easter Bunny. I believe in the Tooth Fairy.

I believe in humanity.

I believe in me.
