Dear Keston,
Today you turn one year old. At this time last year, your mum and I were stuck in a hospital room, waiting for something to happen and, while she was having contractions, nothing was. It wouldn’t be until 9:43 that night that they’d finally wheel Mum into the operating room and yank you out, much to your unamusement.
I, for one, had no idea of the amount of joy, happiness, and satisfaction I was in for with having you around. Sure, it wasn’t all roses and peaches — there were some pretty long nights of getting up all the time, poopy diapers that would make the Roto-Rooter man blush, and many moments of exasperation and wondering how we could keep on doing it, but those are greatly overshadowed by how incredibly awesome you are and how much we love you.
I stayed up till 3:15am last night — not because you were up, but because I wanted to make something for you — and for us — to commemorate the first year of Keston. I hope some day you enjoy it.
Sometimes words fail me to describe how much I love you. Your love and warmth is so overwhelming, it cripples me sometimes, and my brain is unable to think with this warm blanket of happiness surrounding it. I hope you never forget or doubt that.
I love you. Happy Birthday, baby boy.
