Married, that is. Fully and completely married. Well, as married as one gets nowadays, I guess. Is there a quantity of marriage? I dunno.
The wedding was great, really. Just the pastor, myself, Yolanda, and our two great friends, Kate and Jpaul. Pastor Jerry was very kind and gracious and made the service very enjoyable. Our vows went very easy, actually, although Yolanda mauled my fingers when holding my hands. But we were able to look at each other without laughing or crying, so that’s a small bonus.
We had to shoo the old people still in the church out the door because as soon as they saw it was a marriage they were immediately curious and wanted to try and stay. Luckily they took the hint and we didn’t have to get medival on their collective ass.
Of course, not everything in the evening was nice, unfortunately, there’s some very upset and immature attitudes dealing with the fact that we didn’t want anyone at the wedding except us…I expect we’ll be dealing with the fallout for a long time.
Dad and Cindy bought us a room at Country Touch Bed&Breakfast so we went there after and had a lovely time with the beautiful room, complete with fireplace, whirlpool, and breakfast in the morning. It was a great way to spend the night even though we hadn’t planned on it.
Speaking of great things, Kate and Jpaul should be granted sainthood for making our night wonderful. Not only were they our chauffeurs for the evening in their stylish Cadillac, but they had a bucket of ice and champagne in the back of the car when we got done with the service, brought along cameras and digital video cams for us to use, and when we got to the B&B, they had bought Yolanda a bottle of Midori and some Sprite and me a bottle of 12yr Glenfiddich and water. People like them make you believe the world isn’t as bad as the media makes it out to be.
I’m not sure I feel like I’m married, but I’m sure it’ll soak in. It’s really very natural, and so is our relationship. I like that very much.
